Stump Grinding in the Bow Valley

Residential tree care

Stump Grinding

The tree is gone but the stump is still there, catching the mower and sprouting suckers.

A leftover stump is the part of the job the last crew skipped. It is a trip hazard in the lawn, it dulls the mower, it keeps sending up shoots, and over time it becomes a home for carpenter ants and rot right next to where you walk and where the house sits.

Pulling a stump tears up a wide crater and takes the surrounding soil and roots with it. Grinding is the cleaner answer. We take the stump down below grade with a purpose-built grinder, follow the surface roots that matter, and turn the whole thing into mulch you can use or have removed.

Because we do removals as well, we can grind the same day the tree comes out, or come back for stumps another company left behind. Access is planned so the machine reaches the stump without chewing up the rest of the yard, and the area is raked flat and ready to reseed, sod or plant when we leave.

Tell us how many stumps and roughly how big, and we will quote it. Most residential stumps are a fast, tidy job.

What that looks like

How we do the work

  • Ground below grade

The stump comes out below the surface so you can reseed, sod or replant.

  • Same-visit option

Grind at the time of removal, or we return for stumps others left behind.

  • Mulch you can keep

The grindings make usable mulch, or we haul them away.

  • Tidy finish

Area raked flat and ready to plant, not a torn-up crater.

Typically 15 to 30 cm below grade, deeper if you plan to replant in the same spot. That is enough to plant grass or garden over it and to stop most regrowth.
